Join Callum Eastwood, PsyD, as he provides parents and caregivers of children with special needs an introduction and overview of the special education system and the Individualized Education Plan process.
Parents of children with learning, developmental, and emotional behavioral concerns are routinely faced with difficult decisions regarding the special education needs of their children, often without the opportunity for consultation. This workshop will provide parents with an overview of special education and its applicable laws, the process of requesting an assessment, the importance of special education record keeping, and how to work with local district and independent special education professionals to provide the best services possible for their children. Dr. Eastwood will discuss parent and student rights in the special education assessment and plan development process, and how to best advocate for your child and be an effective IEP team member.
